State police at Frackville - crashes

State police at the Frackville barracks reported the following crashes:

• Four people were transported to the St. Luke’s Hospital, Miners Campus, Coaldale, after a two-vehicle crash at 2:26 p.m. March 6 at the intersection of Route 209 and Catawissa Road in Schuylkill Township.

Police said James A. Muldoon Rios, 42, and Caitlin Meyers, 32, both of Clinton, New York, and Brianna M. Hanes, 23, of Summit Hill, were transported by personnel from the Tamaqua Community Ambulance Association, while Lianne Sajdzikowski, 29, of Utica, New York, was transported by personnel from the Ryan Township Emergency & Rescue Squad.

Muldoon Rios had suspected minor injuries while the other three victims had “possible injuries,” according to police.

They said the crash happened when Muldoon Rios, driving a 2022 Hyundai Tucson, pulled from a stop sign on he north side of Route 209 on Catawissa Street, entering the path of a 2023 Toyota RAV4 driven by Hanes, causing the collision.

Muldoon Rios was after the crash, police said.

• Daniel P. Lebeda, 44, of Brunswick, Maryland, was uninjured in a one-vehicle crash at 1 a.m. March 6 on the Morea Road in Mahanoy Township.

Police said he was driving a 2021 Ford F-250 pickup east when it traveled off the side of the road and struck a ditch. They said there was poor visibility due to dense fog at the time.

Police said Lebeda declined an evaluation or treatment at he scene.

The F-250 was towed, police said.

• Police were called to the parking lot of Rough Cut Barbecue, 432 Fairview St., Rush Township, at 1:54 p.m. March 6 for a crash.

They said the driver of a 2024 Volvo tractor-trailer used the parking area of the business to turn around and change directions, at which time the vehicle caused damage to the grass and gravel on the property.

• The driver of a 2019 Jeep Cherokee that struck a deer at 6:08 p.m. March 6 on the Morea Road, Mahanoy Township, was uninjured.

Police did not identify the driver, or list his/her address, but said the vehicle was traveling east when the deer entered the Jeep’s lane of travel and was struck.

They said the vehicle had functional damage to its bumper and grill. Police said visibility was limited at the time of the crash due to dense fog.
