Woodland steward conference scheduled

A Woodland Stewardship Conference focused on non-timber forest products will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 28 at the R. Michael Fryer Conference Center, 101 Classroom Building, at the Penn State Schuylkill Campus in Schuylkill Haven.

Join Eric Burkhart, botanist, ethnobotanist, agro forester and professor at Penn State University for an in-depth program exploring woodland and forest grown products.

Topics include ginseng, goldenseal, ramps/wild leek and forest farming updates; best practices for site selection; crop protection strategies; pest and disease management and emerging opportunities in leaf harvesting.

The program is free and open to the public.

It will include a morning snack and lunch.
