A Tamaqua man is charged with indecent assault for an incident that occurred sometime between December 2019 and June 2020.

Tamaqua police said Dale Rehrig, now 23, was about 17 years old when he assaulted a young boy.

Police received a Child Line report on Dec. 26 and spoke to the victim’s mother, who said that she had just learned about the assault.

The child said he never told anyone about the incident because he was afraid that Rehrig would hurt him, even though he did not threaten to do so. The child believed he was about 7 or 8 when it happened.

Police spoke to Rehrig who initially denied the incident. He later admitted to touching the child, and having the child touch him. He said it happened once and he stopped because he knew it was wrong.

He will also be charged with indecent exposure.
