Pl. Vy. leader: Threats taken ‘seriously’
The Pennsylvania State Police reported that the Troop N Fern Ridge Criminal Investigation Unit was called out to Pleasant Valley High School on Wednesday after a threatening statement was found on a note inside the school.
The police said the investigation is ongoing and information will be released, but they will not jeopardize the integrity of the investigation.
The police want parents, guardians and the community to know “that these incidents are taken extremely seriously, and although there is a large police presence, the school is safe and secure.”
Any information obtained from sources outside of the state police should be considered unofficial information.
At the school board meeting Thursday night, Superintendent James Konrad didn’t directly discuss the incident. He did encourage parents to email or call if they have questions about anything in general.
“As it relates to things that maybe you see or hear, always feel free to reach out to myself or any administration,” Konrad said in his closing remarks.
“Unfortunately we all kind of see things that aren’t always as they are,” he said. “A lot of misinformation is obviously spread very quickly, so just be mindful of that. Here’s the bottom line: We are here to keep our kids safe, absolutely.
“We will educate our kids. We’re doing a great job doing that, but I pride ourselves to keep our students safe, keep our parents informed, and in a sense I look at it as no news is good news.”
He cautioned, “But you know, you are our partners and we have an obligation to keep you up to date. So just be mindful of kind of what you’re hearing, seeing and reading, because some sources are really inaccurate.”
After the meeting, Konrad declined to give any comment about the incident.
