NL hosting Lehigh Co. bocce championship
The Unified Bocce team at Northern Lehigh High School will host the Lehigh County League Championship at 3:30 p.m.
It will welcome two teams from Northampton, as well as two from Salisbury high schools.
Currently holding a 4-2 record, the team has shown strong competition, teamwork, and sportsmanship throughout their competitions.
This season has been a meaningful addition for everyone involved.
Unified Bocce has brought together students of all abilities, fostering inclusion, camaraderie, and school pride. Ahead of their first match, the team was celebrated by the entire school, as students and staff lined the halls to cheer them on, while they made their way to the competition.
Head Coach Greg Dieter remarked on the season.
“Coach Lynn Olesak and I couldn’t have asked for a better season. I didn’t know what to expect, but the athletes and their partners really worked well together to make an awesome first season. We really had a tremendous bunch of high school students who took the time to understand their roles on the team and how to participate with their partners. Also, the crowds at all of our games were supportive of both teams, and this just made the experience more fulfilling. No matter what happens in the playoffs, we are very proud of all the athletes.”
There is no charge for admission to the event.
