Nesquehoning planning double celebration in June

Nesquehoning is gearing up for a double celebration this June, ringing in America’s 250th birthday, as well as Nesquehoning’s 202nd anniversary.

The Nesquehoning Historical Society and borough Recreation Commission have teamed up to spearhead the planning.

Lois Kuba, president of the historical society, announced recently that Nesquehoning will hold a full-day of celebration on June 13.

The event will be held from the Narrow Valley Sportsplex down West Railroad Street, where both the recreation center and historical society are located.

It will include a parade, festival, kids event and possibly end with a fireworks display.

The group is currently working on a logo representing Nesquehoning’s heritage that will be included in the celebration.

Previous talks for plans also included partnering with Reading and Northern Railroad to bring trains into the Nesquehoning Regional Railroad Station that day.

For updates and more information on the upcoming event, follow the historical society and recreation commission on Facebook at Nesquehoning Historical Society and Nesquehoning Recreation Center.
