State Police at Fern Ridge - crashes

State police at the Fern Ridge barracks reported the following crashes:

• A 17-year-old boy from Effort was uninjured in a one-vehicle crash at 5:37 p.m. Dec. 8 on Burger Hollow Road, Polk Township.

Police said he was driving a 2013 GMC Terrain southbound when he lost control of it and the vehicle swerved from the right lane to then left lane, leaving the road and landing in a ditch where it overturned.

The vehicle had to be towed from the scene.

• No one was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 6:32 p.m. Dec. 2 on Sugar Hollow Road, Chestnuthill Township.

Police said it happened when Kevin T. Doran, 35, of Effort, was driving a 2016 Nissan when he attempted to reduce his speed to avoid a collision with a 2024 Toyota Rav4, driven by Michalina Konopka, 30, of Tannersville. They said the Nissan traveled onto the shoulder of the road, striking a utility pole and then struck the rear right bumper of the Rav4.

Police said the Nissan was towed from the scene while the Rav4 was able to be driven from it.

Doran was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed.

• Melvin Cornelius III, 39, of Savanna, Georgia, was uninjured in a two-vehicle crash at 8:45 p.m. Jan. 20 on Interstate 80 in Jackson Township.

Police said he was driving a 2022 Freightliner that was struck in the area of the right front tire and fender area by a vehicle that was changing lanes. The striking vehicle left the scene.

• William M. Smith, 59, of Mount Bethel, was uninjured in a one-vehicle crash that occurred at 8:09 a.m. Jan. 28 on Interstate 80 in Kidder Township.

Police said he was driving a 2004 Toyota Camry westbound when it struck a large patch of black ice, causing him to lose control of the vehicle. It slid onto the right shoulder of the interstate and struck a guide rail and spun numerous times before coming to rest. The vehicle had to be towed from the scene.

• No one was hurt in a two-vehicle crash involving a PennDOT plow truck at 8:54 a.m. Jan. 17 on Interstate 80 in Kidder Township.

Police said it happened when Donavan U. Gomez, 21, of Long Pond, was driving the state truck, a 2020 Mack, westbound on the interstate when a 2024 BMW changed lanes to allow the truck to pass it. They said while the truck was making the pass, the BMW was struck by the plow.

• No one was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 2:56 p.m. Jan. 23 on the Neola Road, Jackson Township.

Police said it happened when Barbara M. Partyka, 66, of Kresgeville, was driving a 2016 Nissan Sentra northbound through the intersection with Twin Pine Road while a 2018 Subaru Outback operated by Thomas R. Hennet Jr., 30, of Stroudsburg, was traveling west on Twin Pine Road and negotiating a left turn onto the Neola Road. The vehicles collided in the intersection.

Police said both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.

• Shaheem J. Green, 37, of Irvington, New Jersey, was cited for driving on roadways laned for traffic after a one-vehicle crash at 9:29 p.m. Nov. 28 on Interstate 80 in Kidder Township. He was uninjured in the incident.

Police said he was driving a 2025 Ford Bronco that was speeding and trying to elude police after they attempted to stop him for being clocked at over 100 mph. They said the vehicle traveled through a properly-posted stop sign and crashed into a guide rail, resulting in the vehicle sustained disabling damages.

Police said after being stopped, Green fled on foot but was caught after being physically defiant. They said he was transported to their barracks where he was charged, arraigned and then taken to the Monroe County Correctional Facility, Snydersville, where he was housed.
