The Tamaqua girls earned a key Schuylkill League victory on Monday.

The Blue Raiders trimmed Blue Mountain in overtime to remain in line for a league playoff berth.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Blue Mountain-Tamaqua

In a thrilling Schuylkill League matchup, Tamaqua outlasted Blue Mountain in overtime to take home a 38-34 victory.

Millie Black and Lauren Ligenza each had double-doubles for the Blue Raiders. Black totaled 15 points and 12 rebounds, while Ligenza had 13 points and 11 boards — including all six Raider points in the extra frame.

The win keeps Tamaqua a game ahead of Pine Grove for the last league playoff spot in the Division 1 standings.

Karley Koch led the Eagles in scoring with 14 points.

Felicia Bro put on a show for the Golden Bears, scoring 25 points to lead all scorers.

Three Fillies finished in double figures, including Addy Marek with 12, DeAnna Pugh with 11, and Katie Knock with 10.

After trailing by one after three quarters, Pine Grove outscored Panther Valley by eight points in the fourth to clinch a district playoff berth with a 52-45 Schuylkill League victory.

Meadow Umbenhauer and Hollynn Sampson each totaled 14 points to co-lead the Cardinals in scoring.

Freshman Ace Aponte paced the Panthers with 20 points, while Lucy Kocha added 12.

Morgan Orsulak finished with a double-double, putting up 12 points and 11 rebounds.

The Hurricanes posted a 92-18 win in the boys meet, and a 94-23 triumph in the girls meet.

Reece Steibler earned two first-place finishes for the Colts, securing both the 50 and 500 freestyles.

The Fillies’ Ella Bones also took home the top spot in two events, winning the 200 IM and 100 breaststroke.
