Man jailed in Monroe shooting

An East Stroudsburg man is in jail following a shooting in Monroe County.

State police said troopers from the Stroudsburg station were dispatched at 6:22 p.m. Thursday to the area of Edward Smith Boulevard and Milford Road (Route 209), Middle Smithfield Township for a report of a shooting.

It was determined that during an encounter, Jahfari Michael Kamdar, discharged a gun, which struck the victim in his hand and leg.

Kamdar was taken into custody Saturday and charged with attempted homicide and related charges.

He is in the Monroe County Correctional Facility. Bail was denied.

The victim, an adult male, was treated for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

The Troop N Stroudsburg Criminal Investigation Unit in conjunction with the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office is conducting this investigation.

Charges are filed through District Court 43-4-01, Magisterial District Judge Jamie Levy. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Jan. 28.
