Area stars land PFN All-State honors
A total of 14 area football players were recognized on the 2025 Pennsylvania Football News Coaches Select All-State Teams, as 321 head coaches from more than 250 teams across the state nominated and voted on the selections spanning Classes 1A through 6A.
In Class 3A, Northwestern Lehigh was well represented, placing multiple players on both the First and Second Teams. Brady Zimmerman earned First Team offense honors at slot/HB, and Shane Hulmes was a First Team selection at tight end, while Mason Bollinger (outside linebacker) and Michael Lagowy (safety) were named to the First Team defense.
The Tigers also had several Second Team selections, with Braxton Lakatosh earning honors at running back, and Colton Popp at offensive tackle on offense, while Shane Leh was named Second Team defense at cornerback.
Northwestern captured its fourth straight District 11 championship this season, and advanced to the PIAA Class 3A state championship game for the third consecutive year. Leh was also named the Times News/Lehigh Valley Health Network Football Player of the Year.
In Class 2A, Northern Lehigh placed two players on the First Team defense, as Chris Frame was selected at cornerback, and Bill Slattery earned honors at nose guard.
Marian Catholic had three players earn Class 1A Second Team recognition, with Tyler Price selected as a defensive athlete, Rory Dixon named at cornerback, and Dominick Rodino earning honors at defensive tackle.
In Class 3A, Panther Valley placed two players on the Coaches Select teams. Gavin Yuricheck earned Second Team offense honors at wide receiver, while Marco Tessitore was named Second Team defense at defensive tackle for the Panthers.
While not from the immediate coverage area, Southern Lehigh, also a District 11 program, was prominently recognized in Class 4A. Sean Steckert was named PFN Coaches Select Player of the Year, while Phil Sams earned Coach of the Year honors after guiding the Spartans to their first PIAA state championship this past season.
The PFN Coaches Select All-State Teams are determined exclusively by head coaches, with Pennsylvania Football News having no role in nominating or voting. Coaches were provided film for each nominee, and selections followed a traditional team format designed to accommodate a variety of offensive and defensive systems.
Ties were not broken, and if only one player was nominated at a position, no second-team selection was made.
