A male pedestrian was struck by a vehicle early Thursday morning on the northeast extension of the Turnpike.
The Carbon County Coroner’s office said police were called to mile marker 76.2 northbound for a motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian.
Deputy Jason Nicholas pronounced the man dead at the scene. No other information was released on the man at this time.
The incident is being investigated by the Carbon County Coroner’s Office, the Carbon County District Attorney’s Office and the Pennsylvania State Police.
An autopsy will be performed Friday morning.
