Moose brightens holiday for Riverstone

Members of Slatington Moose Lodge 1375, which has been in the community for 95 years, recently had their third annual Angel Tree event for residents of Riverstone Manor in Walnutport.

Each resident got to make a wish list for the holiday. The wishes were then put on an ornament, which was placed on a giving tree at the Moose Lodge.

Members of the Moose, Slatington residents, Faith Vercusky from Old Post Inn and St. Luke’s Behavioral Unit selected ornaments, and items that Riverstone residents put on their wish lists were purchased.

The Slatington Moose gave 63 residents and 13 staff members gifts. Among the gifts received were slippers, shirts, socks, pillows, books, snacks, sweatshirts, shoes and winter coats. Gifts for one resident who had passed away and another who had moved were donated to Caring DAM Hearts.

The residents, who were happy with their gifts and grateful for the visitors, also got to sing Christmas songs with Santa. The members of the Moose were happy to see smiles, hear laughter and share holiday cheer with the residents.
