Chestnuthill supervisors hold the line on taxes for 2026

There will be no property tax increase as the proposed 2026 budget was adopted at the Chestnuthill Township December board of supervisors meeting.

The millage rate remains the same at 2.66.

Included in the budget is $2.16 million of road paving and stormwater improvements, operation of the new Shared Emergency Facility and funding to maintain and improve parks, recycling, composting, and historical resources is also included in the 2026 budget.

The Teamsters 773 five-year contract was approved with a 4.5% wage increase the first year, an increase the next two years based on COLA, with the last two contract years open to discussion for wages.

Supervisor Eric Snyder was thanked for his service as his term is done.

Snyder noted, “It’s been a good run. We got the Emergency Services up and running and got through the COVID challenges.” Jeffrey Weiss will be on the board in 2026.

The West End Fire Company reported 39 calls for November and 465 year-to-date.

Michelle Bisbing, president of Pocono Mountain Development and Monroe County Industrial Development Authority, introduced herself.

“I am touring all the municipalities in Monroe County,” she said. “We do have services for small businesses, including counseling, financial planning and a small revolving loan fund with low interest rates.”

Eureka Stone Quarry was awarded the contract for anti-skid materials at a rate of $32.60 per ton.

Payment No. 3 in the amount of $16,081.93 was approved for Miller Soil Solutions for the Rosebay Road project.

The Merwinsburg Hotel project was given a time change until April 30,2026, due to weather.

The security release in the amount of $24,980 was approved for The Barns at Shallow Creek as they are progressing with site work.

The next meeting of the board of supervisors will be the reorganization meeting at 7 p.m. Jan. 5.
