State police at Fern Ridge

State police at the Fern Ridge barracks reported the following incidents:

• Police are investigating a blackmailing report they were called to at 7:39 p.m. Dec. 5 in East Side Borough.

Anthony Troell, 18, of White Haven, told police that money was demanded of him in an extortion incident on State Street.

• A 53-year-old woman from Effort is the victim of a theft by deception/wire fraud incident police were called to at 10:22 a.m. Nov. 17 at Country Acres Court, Chestnuthill Township.

She told police she interacted with a friend’s Facebook post regarding the purchase of a 2020 Honda CRV that was listed for sale at $7,500, and sent $1,500 to an unknown person through Zelle. She said she later discovered her friend’s Facebook account had been hacked.

• A 26-year-old man from Barnwell, South Carolina, is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and a controlled substance after police made a traffic stop at 12:30 a.m. Dec. 7.

He was stopped in a 2008 Mazda for a traffic violation on Park Avenue in Stroudsburg.

• A 46-year-old man from Effort was committed to the Monroe County Correctional Facility, Snydersville, after he was picked up on a warrant after police responded to a disturbance at 8:01 p.m. Dec. 4 on Little Twig Road, Chestnuthill Township.

Police said when he was searched and a small amount of marijuana in a sealed plastic bag was seized, resulting in his being charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

• Marybeth Sundermann, 58, of Brodheadsville, is the victim of a theft by deception incident police were called to at 3:08 p.m. Dec. 3 on Fawn View Road, Chestnuthill Township.

She told police $1,912.67 was taken from her account in a fraud/forgery incident.

• A 29-year-old Albrightsville man was cited for harassment by physical contact after police responded to an incident at 12:25 p.m. Dec. 3 on Brittany Drive, Penn Forest Township.

Police said the victim is a 22-year-old woman from New York, New York, who said the man struck her with a closed fist.

• Justino Gonzalez, 37, of Effort, was arrested after police made a traffic stop at 10:03 a.m. Nov. 27.

He was stopped in a 2003 Toyota for Title 75 violations in the 3400 block of Route 115, Chestnuthill Township. It was determined he had an ignition interlock license and was operating a motor vehicle without the ignition interlock.

• Joseph Houghton, 68, and Michael Houghton, 30, both of Saylorsburg, a father and son, were cited for harassment by communications after police were called to Whippoorwill Drive, Chestnuthill Township, at 6:31 p.m. Nov. 24.

Police said they were involved in an ongoing disagreement regarding their senior dog being put down.

• A 40-year-old Saylorsburg man and a 28-year-old man from Brick Township, New Jersey, were cited for harassment by physical contact after police responded to an incident at 7:43 p.m. Nov. 29 on Candlewood Road, Chestnuthill Township.

Police said they were involved in a verbal argument that turned physical.

• Kiara Lopez, 21, of Easton, is facing drug possession charges after police made a traffic stop at 10:31 a.m. Nov. 29.

She was stopped in a 2011 Honda on Interstate 80 westbound in Tobyhanna Township and found to be in possession of marijuana, police said.
