The official Carbon County kick-off of the America250 celebration will be held Jan. 18 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Memorial Park, 103 E. 10th St., Jim Thorpe

The event is the start of the celebration of the 250th anniversary of the United States of America.

Plans are still in the works, but there should be local and area civic leaders, historical and heritage groups, plus food and entertainment to help kick off the celebration.

Local organizations are invited to set up a table/tent to promote their groups and be a part of the celebration.
