Trees on display in Jim Thorpe

The fourth annual Festival of Trees Tree Lighting Ceremony was held Wednesday evening at the Jim Thorpe Memorial Park, on the east side of the borough. The event was postponed from Tuesday due to the snowy weather.

A variety of Christmas trees were sponsored and decorated for area business, organizations, and as memorials for Jim Thorpe residents.

There were memorial trees in remembrance of Connor Dugan, Alfred Yzzi, Joe Garritano, and Donald and Maxine Mertz.

Some of the businesses included H&R Block, Mauch Chunk Trust Co., Kresge Services, Bear Mountain Real Estate, Jim Thorpe Guns & Ammo, Jim Thorpe House of Jerky, Roberti & Roberti LLC/Paramount Abstract Inc. and Highland Beverage Distributors.

Some of the local organizations included The Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians, the Germantown Grove Club, the Jim Thorpe Community Watch and the Jim Thorpe Lions Club.

People also enjoyed food and drink and other vendors, Christmas music, and a visit by Santa Claus.
