Slatington to host tree lighting at new venue Friday
The Greater Northern Lehigh Chamber of Commerce will present Slatington’s ninth annual tree lighting ceremony from 5:30 -7 p.m. Friday.
This year’s event will be held at a new venue, the Slatington Trailhead, 89 Main St.
The new venue will allow even more community members to gather and enjoy the celebration together, according to Jessica O’Donnell-Gower, executive vice president of Chambers of Commerce for The Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce.
“It’s definitely a hometown type of feeling; a Hallmark movie bringing the community together during this magical time,” O’Donnell-Gower said. “We’re very thankful to have the businesses and community partners to make this event possible.”
She said that Santa will arrive on a firetruck, and there will be a special appearance by Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Santa, Mrs. Claus and the North Pole.
She added there will be caroling from elementary students in the Northern Lehigh School District, while Rhythm & Sole Dance Center in Slatington will also be on hand.
O’Donnell-Gower said there will be hot dogs, as well as hot chocolate, available.
She said the Slatington Lions Club will be selling trees as part of a fundraiser.
The tree lighting will take place around 6:30 p.m. Opportunities to take pictures with Santa will be available for those in attendance once the tree is lit.
“The tree lighting is one of those traditions that reminds us what this community is all about; the warmth, the togetherness, the showing up for one another,” O’Donnell-Gower said. “It’s a simple moment that brings us much joy, and we at the Chamber are thrilled to put this holiday event on for the community once again this year.”
