Tamaqua police reported the following incidents:

• Police charged Randall Burke, 47, of Barnesville, with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia following a 2 a.m. Nov. 13 incident on the 300 block of East Broad Street.

Police said they noticed a man, later identified as Burke, hunched over the steering wheel of a parked car that had a resealable bag with a substance in the cup console. Police awoke Burke, who gave them consent to search the vehicle.

Officers found more of the substance, along with a glass pipe and other paraphernalia. The substance, police said, field tested positive as methamphetamine.

• Police charged Imani James, 28, of Tamaqua, with disorderly conduct and harassment following a Nov. 13 incident.

Police were called to the unit block of Center Street just after 5 p.m. by a woman who said that James confronted her outside her apartment. The woman said Jones spat in her face and shouted an obscenity at her. She said that James is her tenant and that she was going to evict her due to ongoing problems.

James was not at the scene when police arrived.

• A Coaldale man who was picked up by police on warrants from Schuylkill County is now facing drug-related charges.

According to Tamaqua police, officers were on patrol on Nov. 14 when they spotted James Englert, 49, walking on Mauch Chunk Street. Knowing that Englert was wanted, police made contact with him.

Officers said that they asked Englert if he had anything “illegal” in his possession, to which he responded “yes.” Officers said he removed a glass pipe from his coat pocket and asked if he could smash it. Despite officers telling him that he could not, Englert threw the device to the ground, causing it to shatter.

Police said he was taken into custody. Police then retrieved the broken pipe, which had black reside inside.

He was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and tamper with/fabricate physical evidence, and taken to Schuylkill County Prison on the warrants.
