With the general election completed, the Carbon County Election department is clarifying one race that was overlooked on the ballot.
Last week, Kidder Township Chairman Raymond Gluck told residents during the monthly supervisors meeting that “We are aware of voting issues with ballots and items that happened with the mistaken number of positions for supervisor.”
He said that a written letter was sent to the Carbon County Election Bureau “noting displeasure that is was not caught before the ballots went out.”
Jennifer Ketchledge, director of the Carbon County Election Bureau, said Monday that “It was a human error.”
“When they called us, it was too late to get new ballots printed, so we hung up papers at the precincts letting them know that we were not counting the 4-year supervisor.”
Kidder Township had few contested races, with Daniel Collins and Ellwood Zimmerman being voted in to fill the six-year supervisor terms.
In the four-year term, no one was on the ballot, however there were eight write-in votes cast, with Mary Farnschlader receiving four votes; while Adam J. Helfrich, James Mann, Louis Pantages and Suzanne Schiller each receiving one write-in vote.
