They perform all the favorites from the 1960s and early 1970s that many in their audience were raised on.

AM Radio Tribute Band is set to play from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday on the Main Stage at this year’s Palmerton Community Festival.

Kevin Burk, lead vocals, said the band can’t wait to return to the venue.

“We’re looking forward to it,” Burk said. “We love playing there.”

Burk added the band plays a range from the Dixie Cups to Jimi Hendrix, “a lot of feel good music.”

Su Teears, lead vocals, shared her excitement as well on the band returning to perform in Palmerton.

“Part of the reason we immediately loved it was the incredibly receptive audience; they all seemed to be really tuned in what was going on with the music,” Teears said. “They really were like part of the band, great interaction.”

That wasn’t the only thing the band noticed about the festival, according to Teears.

“The festival looked like it was really well run, had something for everyone,” she said. “The organizers of the festival, I think, did a really good job.”

Teears said the seven-piece band also includes Joe Triglia, guitar/lead vocals; Danny Eyer, guitar/lead vocals; Jimmy Cavanaugh, drums/percussion; Bill Sharrow, bass/lead vocals; and Paul Pierangeli, keyboards.

“We play a broad spectrum of music, Jefferson Airplane, Three Dog Night, The Carpenters, The Mamas & The Papas, The 5th Dimension, Linda Ronstadt, The Hollies, The Rascals, The Friends of Distinction, early folk stuff into the British Invasion, all the way up through psychedelic area,” she said. “It’s pretty diverse.”

Teears noted that 11 years ago, she and Burk were on a road trip heading up north.

“Eventually we lost our favorite radio station and had to tune into what was available heading north,” she said. “We came across a station (that was playing) all the stuff we grew up listening to.”

Teears explained, “We have been both musicians in our own right for years, playing in separate bands, (and) we said we should form a band that plays all these songs. We came up with a couple names, really all about AM.

“There’s just so much to chose from, our list of tunes, it is an ongoing combination. We try to cover a lot of stuff that is recognizable, also stuff that has left that you forgot that was playing on the radio when you were younger.

“People will often come up to us after we play and give us a specific memory they had that was tied to that one song that we played; little memory capsules for people that are associated with the songs. That’s like the biggest compliment that we can get.”

AM Radio Tribute Band has shared stages with Peter Noone & Herman’s Hermits, Gary Puckett and the Union Gap, Felix Cavaliere, The 5th Dimension, The Turtles, The Association, Classics IV, The Vogues, The Cowsills, Nate Watts (Stevie Wonder Band) and The Cowsills.
