CCTI Joint Operating Committee

The Joint Operating Committee of the Carbon Career & Technical Institute in Jim Thorpe conducted the following business at its Nov. 20 meeting.

• Approved the treasurer’s report for October 2025 showing a final balance of $4,232,536.80 in the General Fund, and $106,222.84 in the Student Activities Account.

• Approved Jeffry Nietz to substitute for the guidance counselor and Heather Pasquariello to substitute as a teacher/instructional aide for the 2025-26 school year at the established rates.

• Appointed Donald Kerbaugh as a substitute carpentry instructor at a rate of $160 per day effective Oct. 20 through Nov. 10.

• Appointed Jake McCloskey and Rachel Strucko to the Wellness Committee.

• Appointed Jake McCloskey, Robyn Plesniarski and Rachel Strucko to the Comprehensive Plan/Professional Development Committee:

• Approved 19 CCTI students to attend SkillsUSA District Competition at Johnson College on Dec. 9 (with a scheduled snow date of Dec. 10) in Scranton at a cost of approximately $630 to cover student and adviser/chaperone registration fees. Josh Reif, SkillsUSA adviser, Maya Kowlacyk and Maritza Reinbold, SkillsUSA assistant advisers, will chaperone the event.

• Approved 15 CCTI students to attend DECA District Competition at Lehigh Carbon Community College on Dec. 16, (with a scheduled snow date of Dec. 17) in Schnecksville, at a cost of approximately $810 to cover student and adviser/chaperone registration fees. Carly Rinda, DECA adviser, Scott Bartholomew, DECA assistant adviser, and Casey Hill, digital marketing instructional aide, will chaperone the event.

• Approved two CCTI students to attend the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Program at Millersville University, Millersville, from May 28 through May 31, at a cost not to exceed $570 for both students, to defer the cost of registration, meals and lodging.

• Approved adding a forklift ($45,000) to the current CCTI Capital Plan. The current forklift, manufactured in 1994, is deteriorating and has become a safety concern. Repair costs continue to rise each year, making replacement increasingly necessary.

• Approved the agreement for TransPerfect Remote Interpreters Products & Services with Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit 21, as presented.
