Palmerton Borough Council took the following action on Thursday:
• On a 6-0 vote, with one abstention, approved a waiver from land development for the Princeton Avenue land development (currently three residential homes there), contingent upon an acceptable stormwater plan being reviewed and approved by borough engineer Eric Snyder of Keystone Consulting Engineers. Council President Terry Costenbader abstained.
• Approved a resolution for a Keystone Grant and LSA statewide grant for library renovations. Councilman Kris Hoffner abstained from both votes because his wife serves on the library board of directors.
• Agreed to advertise for a public works position.
• Approved a resolution naming Kirk Summa & Co. as auditing firm for 2026.
• Approved a fire police assistance request from the Palmerton Chamber of Commerce for Palmerton fire police for its Christmas in the Park event on Dec. 6.
• Approved a fire police assistance request from the Borough of Lehighton for Palmerton fire police for the Snowflake 5K run/walk event held on Dec. 13 to benefit Dylan and Gavin’s Rainbow.
