Lansford Borough Council received no bids on its former borough garage and adjacent lot on Spring Street.
Council had set a minimum bid of $35,000 for the lot, which was the appraisal price, and a minimum bid of $55,000 on the former borough garage, which was appraised at twice that amount.
Council took no further action on the properties.
Council did receive two bids for heating oil for the borough building. The borough received bids for 2,500 gallons of oil from Kattner Coal and Oil of Nesquehoning at $2.78 a gallon and Victory Fuel of Tamaqua at $2.94 gallon.
Council approved a contract with Kattner Coal and Oil, which was the low bidder.
Council also planned to advertise for bids for oil for the current borough garage in the former Zimmerman Building, seeking 7,500 gallons more or less, which raised questions over whether this should have been included in the previous bid for heating oil.
Council President Bruce Markovich said the request for the garage came in later than the bids for the borough building.
Resident Mary Soberick suggested that the borough seek three quotes instead of spending money to rebid, if the amount of the contract fell below the bidding threshold of $23,800.
Council agreed to seek three quotes for heating oil, lowering the total amount to 6,500 gallons more or less, to ensure that quotes if in line with the bids received fell below the bidding requirements.
