State police at Fern Ridge - crashes
State police at the Fern Ridge barracks reported the following crashes:
• No one was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 7:34 p.m. on Nov. 10 on Route 209 in Chestnuthill Township.
Police said the crash occurred when Dennis George, 18, of Albrightsville, was driving a 2009 Cadillac south on Weir Lake Road and attempted to make a left turn onto Route 209, striking a northbound 2005 Lexus operated by Lifung Linzhao, 30, of Brooklyn, New York.
George was cited after the crash, according to police.
• Zena Holovach, 76, of Albrightsville, had suspected minor injuries after a two-vehicle crash at 1:34 p.m. on Oct. 15 on Route 115 in Chestnuthill Township.
Police said Mario V. Sista, 56, and Dina L. Sista, 87, both of Toms River, New Jersey, had possible injuries in the crash.
They said the crash occurred as Holovach was driving a 2014 Subaru when he attempted to turn left from Route 115 onto State Road, failing to yield to oncoming traffic, at which time the Subaru struck a 2007 Toyota RAV4 driven by Mario Sista head-on.
Police said all three occupants of the vehicles were transported by personnel from the Lehigh Valley Health Network ambulance corps to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Pocono Campus, East Stroudsburg.
The vehicles were towed from the scene.
• Vitaliy Zvarych, 57, of Albrightsville, had possible injuries after a two-vehicle crash at 5:12 p.m. on Nov. 6 on Route 115 in Chestnuthill Township.
Police said he refused a medical services transport from the scene.
They said the crash occurred when Yahshem J. Taylor, 30, of the Bronx, New York, was driving a 2023 GMC Savana northbound on Route 115 and attempted to turn left onto a gravel road, resulting in the GMC striking a 2022 Honda Ridgeline driven by Zvarych.
Police said Taylor and four passengers in the Honda were uninjured.
• A 17-year-old boy from Wind Gap was cited after a one-vehicle crash at 6:55 a.m. Nov. 1 on Route 209 in Chestnuthill Township.
Police said he was driving a 2001 Subaru Outback southbound when he became distracted and the vehicle veered from its lane and struck an advertisement sign, a parked vehicle and a traffic sign. It had disabling damage and was towed from the scene. Police said the parked vehicle had moderate damage.
The driver refused a medical services transport from the scene.
• No one was injured when a vehicle hit a deer at 5:52 p.m. on Oct. 31 on Route 715 in Chestnuthill Township.
Police said it occurred when Lora Z. Zenner, 20, of Cresco, was driving a 2009 Volkswagen Tiguan southbound and the deer abruptly ran into its lane of travel.
The vehicle was towed from the scene.
• A 16-year-old boy from Effort was cited for following too closely after a crash at 7:20 a.m. on Nov. 4 on Route 115 in Chestnuthill Township.
Police said he was driving a 2011 Volkswagen Tiguan that hit the back of a 2012 Ford Explorer operated by Taylor A. Blum, 18, of Effort.
No one was injured in the crash.
• Three people were transported by personnel from the Lehighton Ambulance Association to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Pocono Campus, East Stroudsburg, after a one-vehicle crash at 12:59 p.m. on Oct. 30 on Route 115 in Chestnuthill Township.
Police said the driver, Melissa L. Snyder, 28, of Blakeslee, and a passenger, Amber M. Mendez, 30, of Albrightsville, had suspected minor injuries, while another passenger, a 1-year-old boy from Blakeslee who was in a rear-facing child safety seat had possible injuries.
They said the crash occurred when Snyder was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe too fast for conditions while heading northbound. Police said the Tahoe began to hydroplane due too inclement weather and Snyder lost control of it. The vehicle turned sideways and overturned a number of times, coming to rest on its left side. It had disabling damage and was towed from the scene.
Police said Snyder was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed.
• Police responded to a two-vehicle crash at 12:08 p.m. on Oct. 26 on Route 115 in Chestnuthill Township.
They said the crash occurred when the driver of a 2020 Hyundai Tucson traveling northbound on Merwinsburg Road attempted to stop at a stop sign but the brake pedal became stuck.
Police said the Tucson proceeded slowly onto Route 115, where it hit a 2026 Chevrolet Silverado that was southbound at the time.
No one was injured in the crash, police said, and both vehicles were driven from the scene.
Police did not identify those involved.
