Tamaqua police charged James Applegate, 31, of Coaldale, with possession of a firearm on Nov. 10.
Police said they were called to Applegate’s residence because he wanted to speak to them about firearms.
He told police that he had restored a shotgun even though he is prohibited from possessing firearms.
Police said they learned earlier that a person who had lived at the home said that Applegate had two of her firearms.
Officers said Applegate denied having the guns but consented to a search of his home.
Officers said they found two guns.
Police said Applegate is not allowed to possess firearms after he was found guilty of a 2015 burglary.
He was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Edward Tarantelli, who set bail at $50,000 unsecured.
