State police at Fern Ridge - crashes
State police at the Fern Ridge barracks reported the following crashes:
• No one was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 5:59 p.m. Oct. 15 on Route 715 in Jackson Township.
Police said the crash occurred as Christopher Charles, 34, of Effort, was driving a 2001 Suzuki southbound when it collided with a 2023 Jeep driven by Robert L. Schaufler, 45, of Stroudsburg, after the latter had stopped and was waiting for traffic to clear to make a left turn into a parking lot.
Police said both vehicles had disabling damage.
Charles was cited after the crash, according to police.
• Stephen R. Rinehart, 58, of Kunkletown, is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance following a one-vehicle crash at 11:29 p.m. Oct. 3 on Route 209 in Chestnuthill Township. He was uninjured in the incident.
Police said he was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Colorado southbound when it struck a road sign, traveled onto a concrete wall and took out grounding cable on utility poles. They said the pickup became disabled by getting stuck on the wall.
Police said Rinehart was transported to the Monroe County Correctional Facility, Snydersville, for processing and a legal blood draw.
• Sylvia E. Abril, 58, of Blakeslee, had suspected serious injuries, while and Deegan A. Lynch, 19, of Albrightsville, had suspected minor injuries after a two-vehicle crash at 8:33 a.m. Oct. 17 on Route 115 in Chestnuthill Township.
Police said both were transported by personnel from the West End Community Ambulance to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Pocono Campus, East Stroudsburg.
They said the crash occurred happened when Lynch was driving a 2025 Nissan Kicks and Abril was operating a 2021 Ford Bronco. They did not provide the details of the crash except to note that Deegan was cited for “duty of driver on approach of an emergency vehicle.”
• Joseph C. Voccia, 30, of Brodheadsville, was injured in a motorcycle crash at 12:48 p.m. Oct. 16 on Route 715 in Chestnuthill Township.
Police said he was transported by personnel from the West End Ambulance to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Pocono Campus, East Stroudsburg.
Police said he was southbound on a 2017 Harley-Davidson and was traveling close to the double lines as a northbound vehicle approached. They said he became startled, jumped from the cycle and landed on the right shoulder of the road. The cycle hit a guide rail, became airborne, struck several trees and traveled over an embankment. It was towed from the scene.
Voccia was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed, according to police.
• No one was hurt in a two-vehicle crash at 7:40 p.m. Oct. 22 at the intersection of the Gilbert Road and Altemose Drive in Chestnuthill Township.
Police said it involved a 2020 Toyota RAV4 driven by Leif D. Johnson, 71, of Kunkletown, and a 1999 Nissan Frontier operated by Dillon T. Wilson, 22, of Brodheadsville.
Police did not provide the details of the incident except to say that both drivers were cited.
• Dylan P. Reese, 18, of Brodheadsville, was cited for reckless driving after a one-vehicle crash at 8:49 a.m. Oct. 21 on Jenna Drive, Chestnuthill Township. He was uninjured in the incident.
Police said he was driving a 2015 BMW southbound at a high rate of speed when he lost control of it while navigating a right curve in the road. Police said he swerved into the oncoming lane before losing control and proceeded through a T intersection with Route 115 without stopping.
The BMW crossed both lanes of Route 115, struck a curb, traveled off the roadway and became wedged between two trees. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
