A wanted Luzerne County man was taken into custody on the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike, state police at the Pocono barracks said.
Pedro Rivera, 33, of Plymouth, was committed to the Luzerne County Correctional Facility, Wilkes-Barre, on a warrant against him after police made a traffic stop at 8:47 p.m. Oct. 30 at mile marker 93.2 in Kidder Township.
Police said he is also facing charges of possession of a gun without having a license authorizing him to carry the weapon.
According to police, Rivera was stopped in a 2014 Volkswagen Jetta for traveling 91 mph in a 70 mph zone, after which police determined he had a suspended license and there was a warrant out for his arrest for failing to appear for a court hearing.
Police said they also found Rivera in possession of a Kimber 9 mm gun.
