Palmerton area voting

Voters in Lower Towamensing Township selected winners of a six-year-term on the board of supervisors and a four-year term as tax collector on Tuesday’s general election.

Those races were the only contested ones among four Palmerton area municipalities, as there were no challenges for positions in Bowmanstown and Palmerton boroughs or Towamensing Township.

Lower Towamensing Township

The winners in the township were Ian Farrell and Maxine R. Scherer, who both defeated the same opponent.

Farrell won the supervisors’ race, defeating Connie D. Brown by a margin of 492 vote to 340 votes.

Scherer won the tax collector’s race over Brown by a margin of 577 votes to 268 votes.

Meanwhile, Lower Towamensing had no other contests.

Unopposed candidates included Michael Takerer, who received 606 votes for a two-year term on the board of supervisors; and Louise M. Koons, who tallied 240 votes for judge of elections in the South District.

Bowmanstown Borough

There were no races to be decided in Bowmanstown, as seven candidates who appeared on the ballot were all unchallenged.

They are Sean McDermott, who received 145 votes for mayor; Ben Price, 109 votes, Wendy Borger, 153 votes, Darren R. Thomas, 126 votes, and Candace Rodriguez, 108 votes, all for four-year terms on council; Kelly Solt, 173 votes for tax collector; and Phyllis Kreiss, 147 votes for inspector of elections.

Palmerton Borough

The unopposed candidates in Palmerton included Bo Rodrigues, who collected 940 votes for mayor; Kris W. Hoffner, 775 votes, Timothy K. Gursky Jr., 740 votes, Richard Nothstein, 747 votes, and William Gallagher, 685 votes, all for borough council; Raquel Lutton, 1,124 votes for tax collector; Lisa Snell Kern, 447 votes for judge of elections in the Middle District; and Francis J. Carazo and Richard M. Snell, 336 votes and 262 votes, respectively, for inspectors of elections in the Middle District.

Towamensing Township

Six candidates who appeared on Towamensing Township ballots were all unopposed.

Token votes went to Scott Mosier, 1,030 votes for supervisor; Susan Marques, 1,114 votes for tax collector; Michael Christman, 357 votes for judge of elections in the North District; Wendy K. Hoppel and Beverly K. Waibel, 187 votes and 264 votes, respectively, for inspectors of elections in the North District; and Natalie K. Kleintop, 257 votes for judge of elections in the South-2 District.

Bo Rodrigues
