Girl Scouts prep garden for winter

Members of Tamaqua Girl Scout Troop 33013 recently prepared the Tamaqua Community Garden for winter.

To add color to the garden, the Scouts placed Kindness Rocks that they painted earlier this year.

The rocks feature hearts, rainbows, flowers and other designs. Kindness Rocks are left in public places for strangers to find and are meant as a random act to spread kindness and joy.

During growing season, the South Lehigh Street garden is open to all to harvest fresh vegetables or herbs.

In return, those who take the fresh-grown items are asked to help by pulling weeds, watering plants or assisting with other tasks.

The garden is a project of the Scout troop.
