PSP Fern Ridge - crashes

State police at the Fern Ridge barracks reported the following accidents:

• Rachel C. Udell, 24, of Kensington, Maryland, and Michael Alexis, 24, of Brooklyn, New York, sustained suspected minor injuries in a one-vehicle crash at 7:44 p.m. Oct. 12 on Old Stage Road in Penn Forest Township.

Police said they were passengers in a 2020 Honda Civic driven by Paul E. Demosthene, 25, of Silver Spring, Maryland. He was uninjured.

Police said the passengers did not require an emergency medical services transport from the scene.

They said Demosthene was westbound when he under-compensated a left curve in the roadway. The car traveled onto the right shoulder of the road, went down an embankment and struck a tree.

Police said Demosthene was found to be driving under the influence of alcohol, for which he was charged. he was also cited for unsafe-driving.

Police said the Honda sustained heavy front-end damages and had to be towed from the scene.

• A 20-year-old Saylorsburg man was charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance following a three-vehicle crash at 2:33 p.m. Sept. 22 at the intersection of Route 115 and the Commercial Boulevard in Tobyhanna Township.

Police said a 2003 Chevrolet Impala, a 2022 Dodge Charger and a 1995 Freightliner were involved in the incident.

• Ethan J. Huntington, 21, of Wind Gap, had minor injuries in a one-vehicle crash at 8:56 p.m. Oct. 4 on the Effort Neola Road in Chestnuthill Township.

Police said he did not require an emergency medical services transport from the scene.

They said he was driving a 2004 Nissan when he failed to negotiate a sharp left curve. The car left the roadway, struck an embankment and overturned, coming to rest blocking both lanes of the road.

• Police investigated a one-vehicle crash at 12:37 p.m. Oct. 1 on High Hill Road, Chestnuthill Township.

They said Janice E. Rosser, 86, of Kunkletown, was driving a 2017 Nissan Rogue when she failed to stop at a stop sign and drove through the intersection with Pheasant Run Road, striking a tree.

Police said it is unknown whether or not Rosser was injured.

• No one was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 5:09 p.m. Oct. 6 on Route 115 in Chestnuthill Township.

Police said it happened when Kayle R. Bennett, 26, of Effort, was driving a 2016 Nissan Rogue that “rear-ended” a 2017 GMC Acadia operated by Paul J. Miterko Jr., 33, of Saylorsburg, that had come to a complete stop behind other vehicles.

Police said the Rogue had disabling damages and had to be towed from the scene while the Acadia had moderate damages.

They said Bennett was cited for following too closely.
