A Lancaster man is behind bars on charges that he threatened a Coaldale woman with a knife.

Tamaqua police were called to a home on the 100 block of East High Street in Coaldale on Monday for an armed man and learned that Lemalier Cancel Medina, 21, had been threatening a woman.

Police spoke to the woman, who said that Cancel Medina came at her with a knife and threatened her.

According to police, Cancel Medina admitted that he threatened the woman and told her he would “put this knife to your head.”

He was charged with terroristic threats and simple assault, and jailed in Schuylkill County Prison on $35,000 straight cash bail.

A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Tuesday, according to court records.
