Tamaqua had a successful day, posting wins in three sports.

The Blue Raider boys soccer team defeated Schuylkill Haven on Thursday, while the girls squad downed Shenandoah Valley. In volleyball action, Tamaqua topped North Schuylkill.

BOYS SOCCER

Linc. Leadership-Weatherly

Corbin Wagner scored five goals to help Weatherly roll to an 11-1 non-league victory over Lincoln Leadership Academy.

Wagner added two assists for the Wreckers, who scored nine times in the opening half.

Noah Mayernick had a memorable game, collecting three saves in net, and then scoring a goal. He also had three assists.

The winners received two goals and a pair of helpers from Jeremiah Donadi.

With 8:19 left to play, the Indians’ Konner Nalesnik tallied to avoid a shutout.

Neither regulation nor two overtime periods could decide a victor, as Pleasant Valley and Easton played to a 0-0 tie in EPC action.

The tie was the fifth of the season — and third straight — for the Red Rovers, but just the first for the Bears.

Just 17 seconds into overtime, Sophia Schaffer blasted the game-winning goal to lift Northwestern to a 3-2 non-league victory and hand Abington Heights its first loss of the season.

Down 2-0 to the previously undefeated Comets, and with under six minutes left in the game, the Tigers forced extra time with goals from both Sofia Sikora and Juliet Snyder.

Gianna Donavan and Kayci McGowan scored the two goals for the Blue Devils.

Avery Barry, Harper Lake, Aubrey Frable and Courtney Connell all finished with two goals for the Blue Bombers.

The winners also received three assists from Hadlee Lake, while Kate Fritz and Addy Buch both recorded a goal and an assist. Taylor Wasilewski had five saves to earn the shutout.

Lean Nagle had 16 kills and 17 digs for the Tigers, while Daisy Stringer ended with 13 kills and 10 digs. The winners also received 30 assists and 13 digs from Kayla Schaffer.

For the Indians, Aleea Yeakel finished with 21 digs. Autumn Clewell added seven assists and four digs, and Alexis Holben collected 11 digs.

Paul Short Invitational

The Palmerton boys and Jim Thorpe girls participated in the annual Paul Short Invitational, held at Lehigh University.

Blue Bomber standout Connor Hibell placed 45th in the Boys Gold 5K race, which featured over 350 runners. Hibell’s time was 16:24.7.

The Olympian girls ran in the Girls Brown 5K, which also had over 350 participants. The top Thorpe runner was Kayleigh Halenar, whose time of 22:00.3 put her in 156th place.

FIELD HOCKEY

Crestwood-Northwestern

Northwestern dropped a 4-0 non-league decision to visiting Crestwood.
