Annual Pink Light Walk in Lehighton scheduled for Oct. 7

The Lehighton Area Lioness Lions Club announced the return of its beloved annual Pink Light Walk, scheduled to take place rain or shine on Oct. 7 at the Lehighton Boys and Girls Band Hall, 197 N. Sixth St., Lehighton.

The community event continues its tradition of raising both awareness and vital funds in the fight against breast cancer, benefiting the PA Breast Cancer Coalition.

This year’s event is being held in honor of club members and breast cancer survivors Peggy Alberici and Brenda Ahner.

Program

This year’s Pink Light Walk promises a stirring and memorable program. As walkers descend the stairs at the amphitheater, they will be greeted by the evocative sounds of bagpipers, setting a tone of reflection and unity. The program will includes inspirational messages from two speakers: fellowship-trained breast surgeon Dr. Luke Rodriguez and hematologist/oncologist Dr. Robert Fratimico, both from the Lehigh Valley Health Network. Their insights and expertise offer hope and guidance to those facing breast cancer and their families.

Survivors will be specially recognized, celebrating their courage and inspiring others with their stories. The Pink Heels Ambulance — a symbol of hope and community support — will also be present, further underscoring the event’s dedication to advocacy and care.

Vendors

The Pink Light Walk is more than a fundraiser; it’s a vibrant community celebration. Various vendors will be on hand offering an array of products and information to enrich attendees’ experience. Interested vendors are invited to join for a nominal fee. To secure a space, vendors may call 484-629-2052 for information and registration details.

After the walk, participants will be welcomed back to the band hall with light refreshments, fostering an environment for connection and reflection. To further the impact of the event, the Lehighton Area Lioness Lions Club is offering several sponsorship levels: Hot Pink, Pink Ribbon, Survivor and Fuchsia. Coalition

The Pink Light Walk is dedicated to supporting the vital mission of the PA Breast Cancer Coalition: “to find a cure now … so our daughters don’t have to.” The coalition tirelessly advocates for research, education and patient support throughout Pennsylvania, striving to make a tangible difference for those impacted by breast cancer.

One of the coalition’s most valued initiatives is the “Friends Like Me” program, which offers free care packages to individuals newly diagnosed with breast cancer. Through this program and other resources, the coalition ensures that no one faces the journey alone.
