Students at the Penn Kidder Campus in the Jim Thorpe Area School District were dismissed early Wednesday, according to social media reports, and the building remained closed through the end of the week.
Parents reported on social media that the early dismissal Wednesday was due to air quality issues in the K-8 building.
Posts suggested that the school dismissed abruptly Wednesday, leaving parents scrambling for pickups and childcare issues.
Thursday had already been scheduled as an in-service day for staff.
The district closed the campus again Friday.
“We are investigating an issue at the Penn Kidder Campus,” Acting Superintendent Tom Lesisko said in a text message Thursday. He did not elaborate on the issue.
Lesisko said Friday morning that the district would release a plan of action later in the day, along with a timeline for reopening Penn Kidder.
That information was not available by press time.
