Firefighters from three counties responded to a fire in a vacant home in Packer Township late Tuesday night.
The fire broke out at the home at 1286 Packer Drive, just outside Weatherly Borough, around 10:30 p.m., Weatherly First Assistant Chief Steven Moyer said.
Firefighters encountered heavy fire in the garage and the blaze spread to the home, he said. Additional support and tankers were called in due to the lack of hydrants, Moyer said.
Firefighters had the fire under control in about 40 minutes and a fire marshal was called in to investigate a cause, which is listed as undetermined at this time, Moyer said.
There were no injuries and the home was unoccupied, he said.
In addition to the Citizens’ Fire Co. No. 1 of Weatherly, these fire companies responded: Beaver Meadows, Lehigh & Lausanne, Summit Hill, Jim Thorpe, McAdoo, Freeland, Hazle Township, Hazleton City, Hometown and Ryan Township.
Lehighton Ambulance also responded.
