Towamensing man dies from fireworks injury

A Towamensing man has died as a result of an exploding firework.

The Lehigh County Coroner’s Office said Kevin J. Koch, 61, died Tuesday at 6:39 p.m. at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Cedar Crest.

An autopsy completed Thursday showed the cause of death to be blast and thermal injuries as a result of accidental explosion of a pyrotechnic device.

The coroners said the incident occurred at 10:15 p.m. Friday in the 7000 block of Pohopoco Drive, Towamensing Township.

State Police at Lehighton are investigating along with the coroner’s office.
