A Lehighton couple say they’re fed up with the loud noise and vulgarity that occurs at a neighborhood playground.
Matthew Minnich told borough council on Monday that the behavior that’s been happening at The Grove has really declined.
The Minnichs said they bought their house on South Seventh Street in 2015, and they’ve noticed things have gradually gotten worse.
They cited litter, loud noise, smoking, and kids being disrespectful, with the most vulgar, profane language you can think of.
Councilman Steve Hawk said he’s fully aware of the issues they discussed, as he drives past The Grove quite often.
Borough Manager Dane DeWire informed the couple that he and Mayor Ryan Saunders are working on some new signage in next year’s budget.
Further, DeWire said he’s hoping there can be a little more patrolling of the area by police.
Public Works Supervisor Kris Kunkle noted that a piece of equipment has been vandalized several times at The Grove and needs to be replaced.
DeWire said it’s unfortunate, but that “unless the cops get a call, we can’t do anything,” he said.
Saunders said if they see someone litter, they have to be willing to testify.
