Pennsylvania State Police have released the statistical data relative to officers’ Labor Day weekend enforcement initiative, which shows 747 crashes took place over the holiday period.
The enforcement period took place from Aug. 29 to Sept. 1, during which time those crashes resulted in 129 people being injured and six people being killed.
Of the 747 crashes, 64 of them involved driver impairments, two of which were fatal.
In addition to responding to the crashes, police made 535 arrests statewide for drivers being under the influence of alcohol or controlled substances.
Police officers wrote 24,182 citations, including 6,860 for speeding, 776 for failure to wear a seat belt, and 147 for children having not been secured in safety seats.
The crash data statistics for this year’s Labor Day initiative includes (2024 statistics in parentheses for comparison): total crashes 747 (678), fatal crashes 6 (7), people killed 6 (7), injury-related crashes 129 (142), DUI-related crashes 64 (60), and DUI-related crashes 2 (3).

The statistics cover only those incidents investigated by the state police and do not include incidents to which other law enforcement agencies responded.
