The Northwestern, Palmerton and Lehighton girls soccer teams all picked up Colonial League wins over the weekend.

Aubrey Frable posted a hat trick in the Blue Bombers’ victory over Pen Argyl, while the Tigers registered another shutout.

GIRLS SOCCER

Northwestern-No. Dame GP

Northwestern posted its sixth straight shutout to open the season, blanking Notre Dame-GP 7-0 in Colonial League action.

Kiersten Klein paced the Tigers with two goals and two assists, while Kherington Yezik added a pair of goals.

The winners, who have outscored their opponents by a 41-0 margin, also received a goal and an assist from Alexis Kercher and Amelia Glassberg.

Aubrey Frable’s hat trick helped Palmerton gain a 3-1 Colonial League victory over Pen Argyl.

Frable posted all three of her goals in the first half, with Addison Buck assisting on two of her goals.

Taylor Wasilewski made four saves for the Bombers.

Sadie Monk had two first-half goals and added an assist to help Lehighton earn a 6-0 Colonial League victory over Catasauqua.

Leah Uyvari also tallied twice in the first half as the Indians jumped out to a 4-0 halftime advantage.

Claire Bridy secured the win by adding a pair of goals in the second half, while Cassidy Litts made four saves to gain the shutout.

Elliot Policare sparked the Panthers’ offense with a hat trick, while Kamryn Crookham collected a pair of goals.

Blue Mountain received goals from nine different players to roll to a 10-1 Schuylkill league victory over Tamaqua.

Ella Zelinsky had two goals for the Eagles, who stayed perfect in league play.

The Blue Raiders avoided the shutout when Katie Fredericks scored with 3:48 left in the game.

The Wreckers’ Emily Rynd prevented a shutout by scoring in her second straight game.

Alexander Strohl’s overtime goal lifted Catasauqua to a 3-2 Colonial League victory over Lehighton.

The Rough Riders grabbed a 2-0 lead on a pair of tallies by Jayden Olivencia, but Konner Nalesnik scored twice for the Indians — his second goal assisted by Chase Lobasso — to force the extra period.

Strohl registered the game-winner with 5:58 remaining in OT.

Wren Ryle had a goal and an assist to lead Palisades to a 2-0 Colonial League victory over visiting Lehighton.

Centaur Invitational

Several local Times News cross country teams took part in the 46th Annual Centaur Invitational at DeSales University.

Palmerton’s Connor Hibel led the way for the area boys as he posted a seventh-place finish. The Bomber crossed the finish line in a time of 17:09.97.

Northwestern’s Rosalia Nestor was the top finisher among area girls, also placing seventh. The Tiger runner completed the course in 20:21.31.

Elijah Pagotto of Lehighton was 12th in the boys race, which featured 247 participants, while the Indians’ Claudia Pagotto ended 15th among the girls field of 206.

Other area boys in the top 75 included Tamaqua’s Aidan Elston (31st) and Parker Steencken (38th), Marian’s Wade Eroh (68th) and Northwestern’s Noah Griffith (75th).

Palmerton’s Payten Fornaro (34th), Northern Lehigh’s Emma Heil (49th) and Tamaqua’s Shaylee Gormley (54th) turned in strong showings in the girls competition.

GIRLS TENNIS

Tamaqua-Jim Thorpe

Tamaqua improved to 7-1 by gaining a narrow 3-2 victory over Jim Thorpe.

Chloe Ryan gave the Blue Raiders a win in singles play, while the doubles team of Skora Ndikwiki and Destiny Steinmentz also was victorious.

For Thorpe, Keira Reese and Angalli Chiuli both posted singles’ wins.

Panther Valley

at Ephrata Tournament

Panther Valley took part in the Ephrata Tournament, and posted a 5-3 mark in match play.

The Panthers fell short in the quarterfinals, falling to Cocalico 25-23.

PV swept Lebanon (25-13, 25-14) and Warwick (25-21, 27-26), and split with Linville Hill (23-25, 25-22). The Panthers lost twice to Conestoga Valley (7-25, 19-25).

Caroline Breslin paced the Panthers during the tournament with 30 service points, 23 kills, 24 digs, two assists and eight aces, while JaeLynn Browdy added 12 service points, 23 assists and 17 kills.

Morgan Orsulak (21 assists, three kills, two digs) and Danika Blazosky (five kills, 12 service points, 16 digs, three aces, two assists, two blocks) both contributed to the PV effort.

Pleasant Valley

at Easton Tournament

Pleasant Valley reached the finals of the Easton Tournament, falling to the eventual champions — Emmaus.

The Bears swept Little Flower, East Stroudsburg North and Wilkes-Barre by 2-0 scores before losing to the Green Hornets, 2-0.

PV then downed Easton 2-0 in the semifinals to get another shot at Emmaus in the finals, only to drop a 2-0 decision.

Rylee Ruggiero had 33 kills, 11 blocks, 13 digs and six aces to lead the Pleasant Valley attack. Mya Williams added five kills, 22 assists, 31 digs ad 21 aces for the Bears, who also received 24 assists and 14 digs from Kira Hnat.

PV’s Sasha Slozina contributed 11 kills and eight digs, while Isabella Slizewski chipped in with 13 kills, seven blocks and 14 aces, and Emmerson Deluna finished with 16 assists, nine digs and 10 aces.
