Palmerton Borough Council on a 5-1 vote last week, approved a new three-year contract for its Public Works employees, effective Sept. 1.

The contract, which continues through Aug. 31, 2028, calls for increases of 3.25%, 3.5%, and 3%.

Council President Terry Costenbader was opposed. After the meeting, Costenbader said he voted in opposition, because there was some language in the contract that he was not comfortable with.

He added he believes it’s a good contract, and that he’s glad the contract passed.
