Palmerton Festival gets $10K donation from 2 groups

Two local organizations have once again pledged their support to the Palmerton Community Festival.

St. Luke’s University Health Network, along with Befesa Zinc US Inc., each donated $5,000 to the festival.

Susie Arner, festival president and cochair of the event, said the donations will go a long way in assisting the group.

“All the donations are put into our entertainment to provide top quality entertainment that they would otherwise have to pay,” Arner said. “We’re happy to provide top quality free entertainment throughout the weekend.”

John Nespoli, president of St. Luke’s Carbon, lauded the festival for the impact it has on the local community, and said he admires the people from the nonprofits who spend their weekend volunteering at the event.

“I think it’s the best community festival in the world,” Nespoli said. “It gets better and better.”

Raquel Lutton, procurement manager, Befesa Zinc US, a zinc reclaiming company, said the money comes from the Befesa Community Fund.

“We are the founders of this community,” Lutton said. “It’s about investing in our community.”

The 36th annual Palmerton Community Festival runs Friday through Sunday in the borough park.
