Franklin Township supervisors

Franklin Township supervisors took the following action last week:

• Approved the change of status of Randy Gombert to part-time truck driver at the rate of $20.10 an hour.

• Hired Larry Dreher as part-time grass cutter at the rate of $17 an hour.

• Agreed to have board Chairman Jason Frey sign the 2024 Community Development Block Grant agreement by and between the township and Carbon County for the fiscal year 2024 CDBG program.

• Adopted a resolution certifying that Carbon County will administer the Community Development Block Grant and develop a three-year Community Development Plan on behalf of the township to be submitted with the CDBG grant.

• Approved the request to have the Franklin Township fire police assist with traffic control at the intersection of Route 209 and Route 248, as well as the Pennsylvania Turnpike during the 2025 annual bike run for the K-9 KOP Project to be held on Sept. 6.

• Approved a request from the Franklin Township Lions for the township fire police to assist with parking at Phifer’s Ice Dam Park during the annual Picnic in the Park from 12:30-3 p.m. Sept. 21.

• Announced a change in garbage collection for the Labor Day Holiday. Sept. 1 pickup will be picked up on Sept. 2.

• Announced that the township office has tickets available for pickup for the Franklin Township Lions sponsored event for Picnic in the Park for a complementary free meal for Franklin Township senior citizens (age 65 and older) from noon to 2 p.m. Sept. 21. Nonresident tickets are $12 each.

• Announced that a recycling event will be held from 9-11 a.m. Oct. 18 (or until truck is full) for Franklin Township residents only.
