The Return To Mauch Chunk Pow Wow will be held from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 6-7 at Mauch Chunk Lake Park, 625 Lentz Trail, Jim Thorpe.
The Lenape Nation of Pennsylvania is hosting the intertribal event. The public is welcome to learn about the Indigenous people of the area. Admission is free but donations are greatly appreciated.
Proceeds benefit The Lenape Nation of Pennsylvania Scholarship Fund.
There will be an inner circle, where native dancing, drumming and singing will be presented.
An outer circle will feature artisans and crafters, offering exhibitions and demonstrations by members of various tribes. This circle will also feature food vendors (both native and local booths) as well as various nonprofit information booths. There will be a stage among the outer circle.
Sept. 6 will feature contemporary music from indigenous musicians, as well as Iroquois and Lenape dances and more. Native flute players will entertain the public on Sept. 7.
The grand entry of the dancers will be at noon.
A craft raffle and 50/50 raffle will be held.
