State police at Hazleton

State police at the Hazleton barracks reported the following incidents:

• Police were called to a theft report at 12:07 p.m. Aug. 12 at a property on Quakake Road, Packer Township.

They said a 65-year-old woman from Weatherly reported someone stole a check from her and attempted to cash it.

In addition to the woman, police said the Maylath Valley Health System, Sybertsville, is a victim of the incident. They said the check for $8,385 was issued to Odet Painting.

A 2025 Honda CR-V is linked to the incident, police said.

• A 49-year-old Weatherly woman was charged with simple trespass after police were called to South Stagecoach Road, Lehigh Township, at 5:22 p.m. Aug. 11.

Victims of the incident are a 25-year-old woman and a 29-year-old man, both of Weatherly, who said the 49-year-old walked on their posted property.

• A 16-year-old Hazleton boy was charged with robbery/carjacking after police responded to an incident at 10:58 a.m. July 23 on Airport Road, Hazle Township.

Police said a 42-year-old Weatherly man told them he was sitting inside his 2021 Honda when the boy ordered him out of the car and then pulled him out of it. They said the teen drove off in the vehicle, which crashed a short time later.

Another victim of the incident is 65-year-old man from Texas, police said.
