State police at Lehighton

State police at the Lehighton barracks reported the following incidents:

• A 22-year-old Lehighton woman is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol after police made a traffic stop at 1:38 a.m. Aug. 18.

She was stopped in a 2006 Nissan Sentra for a Motor Vehicle Code violation on Franklin Street in Bowmanstown.

• A 16-year-old girl from Kunkletown has been reported missing by her mother.

Police did not identify the girl but described her as being 5 feet, 2 inches tall, weighing 105 pounds and having brown eyes and brown hair. She is white, non-Hispanic, police said.

They said she left the family residence on Lower Valley Drive, Polk Township, entering an unidentified vehicle at 3:34 p.m. Aug. 14 under her own will and has not been seen since that time.

• Police are investigating the theft of a Ruger pistol from a residence on Mountain Road in Ross Township.

They said the victim, Barbara Mahl, 73, of Saylorsburg, was only able to provide minimal details about the last known location of the firearm.

• A 44-year-old Lehighton woman is the victim of a theft/crime by deception incident, police said.

The resident of Forest Street, Towamensing Township, told police that at noon July 31 she gave a suspect $24,000 to build a garage on her property. She said the job was never completed.

• A 33-year-old Lehighton man was cited for retail theft after police were called to the Country Junction Store, 6565 Interchange Road, Towamensing Township, at 7:33 p.m. July 26.

Police said he was caught trying to steal sport cards worth $19.99.

• Luis Mendez Acevedo, 31, of Allentown, is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance after police made a traffic stop at 8:23 p.m. June 22.

He was stopped on a 2025 motorcycle for Title 75 violations at the intersection of Route 248 and East Lizard Creek Road, Bowmanstown.

• A 47-year-old Reading man is facing drug possession charges after police made a traffic stop at 8:34 a.m. July 6.

He was stopped in a 2011 Mazda for Title 75 violations in the 3000 block of Pohopoco Drive, Franklin Township, after which police found him impaired and in possession of illegal contraband, they said.
