Tamaqua police charged Amy Lower, 48, of Coaldale, with retail theft after she allegedly took items from the Family Dollar Store in Tamaqua at 9:40 p.m. Aug. 9.

Police were called to the store for a theft in progress and located Lower in the aisles. Police said she had a large black bag that was open, and officers could see the items she took. Police said most of the items were cat food, and totaled $70.44.

She was advised that she would no longer be allowed inside the store.
