State police at Bethlehem - crashes
State police at the Bethlehem barracks reported the following crashes:
• Jan K. Billy, 78, of Cherryville, is facing charges of driving under the influence after a one-vehicle crash at 3:22 p.m. July 23 on Cherryville Road in Allen Township.
Police said he had minor injuries after the incident.
They said he was driving a vehicle that left the roadway and struck a utility pole. It had disabling front-end damage and was towed from the scene.
Police said Billy was also cited after the crash.
• James Mohr, 58, of Slatington, is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol after a two-vehicle crash at 7:34 p.m. Aug. 17 at the intersection of Route 145 and Clearview Road in North Whitehall Township.
Police said he was driving a 2006 Toyota RAV4 north on Route 145 when he made a left turn at the intersection without having clearance. They said the RAV4 struck the driver’s side of a 2013 BMW operated by Aubrey L. Brown Jr., 27, of Allentown. After the impact, the BMW hit a dirt embankment, police said.
They said Mohr was also cited for failure to drive at a safe speed, while Brown was cited for driving while his operating privileges are suspended or revoked.
No one was injured in the crash.
• Samantha Mohry, 18, of Slatington, had suspected serious injuries after a motorcycle-car crash at 3:48 p.m. Aug. 8 on Old Mill Road, Washington Township.
Police said she was a passenger on a 2000 Harley-Davidson that was operated by Robert A. Mohry, 44, of Whitehall.
They said the motorcycle was southbound in the northbound lane while attempting to pass a vehicle when the cycle sideswiped a 2012 Nissan Altima operated by Leilani N. Sierra, 18, of Collegeville.
Police said Robert Mohry lost control of the cycle, which fell onto its right side, skidded across the roadway and came to rest on its right side. Police said the operator and passenger fled the scene. They did not know whether or not Robert Mohry was injured. Sierra and a passenger were not hurt.
Police said Mohry was identified by witnesses and a passenger in the Nissan.
A passenger in the car was severely injured and remains hospitalized, police said.
Robert Mohry was cited after the crash, according to police.
• Jasmarina Pena, 36, of Lehighton, is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol following a one-vehicle crash at 9:42 p.m. Aug. 4 at the intersection of Old Post and Mauch Chunk roads in North Whitehall Township.
Police said she was injured and transported by personnel from the Northern Valley ambulance corps to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest Campus, Salisbury Township. They said the severity of her injuries is unknown.
Police said she was operating a 2014 Subaru Impreza northbound on Mauch Chunk Road when she failed to stop at a posted stop sign, proceeding through the intersection and striking a reflective sign and dirt embankment. The car then went airborne, rotated counterclockwise and landed in a cornfield. Police said it caught fire.
• Stevie O. Nicholson, 45, of Hatfield, had suspected serious injuries and Patrick Jasinski, 25, of Effort, had minor injuries in a three-vehicle crash at 2:52 a.m. June 26 on Route 22 in Hanover Township.
Police said Nicholson was transported by personnel from the Hanover Township Volunteer Fire Company to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Muhlenberg Campus, Bethlehem. Jasinski was not transported from the scene.
They did not provide the details of the crash. The third driver was Elias Awad, 28, of Allentown, who was uninjured, police said.
