New location, same mission; Andreas Plumbing operating out of new Franklin site
Set back off Fairyland Road on Memorial Drive, the new location for Andreas Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning looks pretty much like any other commercial building. But inside, it’s not just any other company.
The entranceway is painted in the company’s signature teal with accents of orange, black and white. On the wall is the company’s mission statement: “Our purpose: To create an experience for those we serve reminding them of the good in the world.”
Danielle Andreas, who co-owns the business with her husband, Nathan, said they want their customers to have a good experience when they need to have heating, plumbing or air conditioning work done in their homes. About 95% of their work is residential.
“Our goal is always to create a really positive experience for our customers,” she said.
In their business, people aren’t too happy about having to call a professional, Andreas said. It’s not like buying a new couch that they are look forward to getting.
“Usually when customers come to us, they’re in a situation they didn’t expect, something broke down,” she said.
The situation could be because there is a water leak and it’s damaging the home, or the air conditioning is down and it’s getting hot. The problem could be posing a health risk to the residents.
“People come to us in vulnerable situations,” she said. “They could potentially be upset depending on what’s going on. So we always strive to give our customers the absolute best experience possible to fix the situation for them, but do it in such a way that they come out better, and not just because of the repair, but because of the experience of our family, our techs and our team in the office here.”
The company has been around for four generations of the Andreas family; first with Nathan’s great-grandfather, then grandfather, uncle and now him. Andreas said that her father also helped them as co-owner when they took over more than 20 years ago. He has since retired.
The move was needed for a variety of reasons.
The business was located on Second Street in Lehighton, and moved to a larger building on Interchange Road in 2019. The company outgrew that location within two years, so it moved the installations department to another location in 2021. Currently, the company has 15 office staff and 33 technicians.
“It was really hard to work under two different roofs — for the camaraderie,” Andreas said.
They needed a new location. That’s when one of their employees spotted a building available to lease.
“It was perfect,” Andreas said. “We just had to do some modest upgrades to make it functional for us.”
The office staff moved into the new building on Memorial Drive in Lehighton in March, and the technicians in June. In July, they celebrated with a ribbon cutting.
Andreas said the building used to be the home of Lehighton Electronics, and needed more garages; it only had one. The company has 25 trucks that serve customers throughout Carbon County.
The building also needed to be painted in the company’s colors, and the parking lot paved.
Andreas said they are leasing the building for four years, but they plan to buy it when the lease is up.
“We’re really excited about that,” she said.
Andreas said the company still has things to move to the new location but the summer is their busiest season, so it will have to wait a little while.
“May, June, July, August are our busiest months of the year,” she said. “You’d think it would be during heating season, but it’s during air conditioning season. I mean, not to say we’re not busy during the heating, but, oh, it’s a much bigger animal during air conditioning. I think people are a little more antsy to get the work done when it’s air conditioning. Nobody wants to be too hot.”
Andreas said many people came out for the ribbon-cutting, including customers. She said she really enjoyed hearing from the customers.
“They were like, we love you guys because you treat us like family,” she said. “That was so nice. That’s what we set out to do every day, but to hear it was really nice.”
