Rolling Stones tribute concert to benefit Family Promise
A musical tribute band to the legendary Rolling Stones will help raise funds for an area homeless shelter.
All proceeds from “Rockin’ 4 a Cause” featuring the band, Satisfaction, will benefit Family Promise of Carbon County.
“Instead of tricky trays and raffle tickets, we decided to go big this year” with the concert fundraiser, explained Cathy Lamm, executive director of Family Promise.
“Rockin’ 4 a Cause” will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Penn’s Peak, 325 Maury Road, Jim Thorpe.
Satisfaction is a band not to be missed, Lamm said.
“I’ve seen them and they are great,” she said.
The band tours internationally and has logged more than 4,000 performances at casinos, fairs, concert halls and performing arts centers over the past 25 years.
Satisfaction will be joined by “The Beaten Path,” a rock group that covers an eclectic mix from the 1960s to today.
Lamm said that if the concert is a success, Family Promise hopes to make “Rockin’ 4 a Cause” an annual event.
“Last year, we had raffle tickets, a Family Fun Day at the park, but this year we decided to do this,” she said. “If it is well received, we will do it again.”
Proceeds will go toward the overall operations of Family Promise — everything from the food to the lodging and other services.
“We supply everything to them while they are here,” Lamm said.
The facility in Nesquehoning has eight bedrooms and currently houses 31 guests, including 19 children.
Lamm said there is a “long” waiting list.
Tickets may be purchased at the Penn’s Peak box office or on the Penn’s Peak website at www.pennspeak.com. They’re also available by scanning a QR code on the Family Promise of Carbon County Facebook page. Call the shelter at 610-379-4757 for more information or to donate in other ways
