State police at Fern Ridge
State police at the Fern Ridge barracks reported the following incidents:
• Police were called to a simple trespass incident at an abandoned house on Westbrook Road, Chestnuthill Township, at 6:27 p.m. May 27.
Police said the complainant related she saw a group of people enter and then exit the residence.
They said the home is abandoned due to an arson-related fire and is easily accessible due to the lack of walls and doors on the premises.
• Police were called to a suicide attempt at 9:09 a.m. July 24 on Recreation Drive, Chestnuthill Township, and were able to take a male juvenile into custody without incident.
They said he was armed with a handgun and was walking in the woods while threatening to take his own life.
Police said he was disarmed and transported to an area hospital for a mental health evaluation.
• A 55-year-old East Stroudsburg man is facing drug possession charges after police were called to the Wawa store on Route 209 in Chestnuthill Township at 6:01 a.m. July 7.
Police said multiple customers of the store reported the man was running around the parking lot of the store asking people to kill him. When police arrived, he asked police to kill him as well, police said.
They said he was detained and found to be in possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.
He was transported to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Pocono Campus, East Stroudsburg, where he was committed on an involuntary mental health warrant. Police said that when hospital personnel removed his right sock, they found drugs in it.
• Police are investigating a burglary that was reported to have occurred at 2:31 a.m. July 9 at the CVS Pharmacy, routes 209 and 115, Chestnuthill Township.
The said someone pried open the drive-through window at the store to access the register while outside the window, but the register was empty. Then actor then entered the store through the window and was inside for about 40 seconds before an alarm was activated. Police said nothing was taken from the store.
• Police were called to a theft incident at noon July 4 on Parker Trail, Penn Forest Township.
A 50-year-old Lansdale woman reported that a tenant who rented her home as an Airbnb stole approximately $1,636 worth of household items from the home.
